Two new Australian members
join Road Safety Support

29.07.2013

Road Safety Support (RSS) is delighted to announce that the Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) and Victoria Police, in Australia have become its latest members.
The two organisations will now have access to a range of specialist road safety advice and support services to assist them in their casualty reduction efforts.
The TAC is a Victorian Government-owned organisation set up to pay for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents and to promote road safety.
The TAC pays benefits to people injured in road collisions. Working closely with Victoria Police and Vic Roads, the TAC also develops campaigns that increase awareness of issues, change behaviour and reduce road deaths and injuries.
Victoria Police employs more than 16,000 people who work to keep over 5.7 million Victorians safe.
Along with partner organisations, the force provides specialist services to ensure road users are as safe as possible while using Victoria's roads.
A significant part of Victoria Police's partnership approach to road safety is close coordination with other agencies and service providers, including federal, state and local government as well as non-government organisations.
Trevor Hall, Managing Director of Road Safety Support, said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome the TAC and Victoria Police as our latest international RSS members.
"We very much looking forward to working with them and helping to reduce deaths and injuries on their roads."
The TAC and Victoria Police are keen to begin working with the Road Safety Support team and its other members, and are looking forward to attending the National Safer Roads Partnerships' Conference in Manchester on September 25 and 26, 2013.
Presentations will be given at the event by His Honour Gordon Lewis, Australia's first Road Safety Camera Commissioner, and Jessica Truong, of the TAC, so that delegates can find out more about the road safety activities carried out in Australia.
