Number of road deaths in 2018 remain
almost unchanged, latest figures show
The number of people killed on Britain’s roads in 2018 remains almost unchanged from the previous year, the Government has announced today.
Latest Department for Transport figures show that 1,782 people were killed on the roads in 2018, a 1% decrease from the 1,793 people killed in 2017.
The Reported Road Casualties in Great Britain: Main Results 2018 provides the number of personal injury road traffic collisions that were reported by the police in 2018 using the STATS19 reporting system.
This is the first release of provisional headline accident and casualty figures for 2018, which will be followed by the final publication in September of the Reported Road Casualties Great Britain 2018 report.
The provisional figures also suggest a decrease in slight injuries and casualties overall.
A minor increase in serious injuries and the number of people killed and seriously injured (KSIs) in collisions is anticipated.
