A road safety manager from Transport for London (TfL) has been presented with a national award in recognition of his commitment to reducing deaths and injuries on the roads.

Rob Lowe, Operational Policy Manager, at TfL, was presented with the Road Safety Support (RSS) Award for Individual Excellence in Promotion of Road Safety.

Rob (pictured centre) has worked in road safety for many years and is responsible for co-ordinating London’s speed reduction strategic policy.

He plays a pivotal role in linking together the many stakeholders in London’s ‘Vision Zero’ action plan.

Prior to that, Rob led on TfL’s approach to freight enforcement in order to better target the most dangerous and non-compliant drivers, vehicles and operators on London’s roads.

His colleagues, who nominated him for the award, said: “Rob is skilled at bringing together partners to work towards a common aim – which results in better outcomes for all.

“His positive attitude is welcome and his passion to improve road danger outcomes in evident in the way he keeps pushing for change and action, even when the going is slow.”

Rob was announced as a winner of the award at this year’s National Safer Roads Partnerships’ Conference, but sadly he had been unable to attend and accept it in person.

He was presented with the award in London by Andrew Perry, Solicitor, and Emma Kelly, Development, PR and Advocacy Manager, from Road Safety Support.
