Director and Executive Chairman
Meredydd Hughes is the Executive Chairman of Road Safety Support and a former Chief Constable. During his police career, his national responsibilities included leadership of major public and sporting events, firearms, public order, emergency planning and roads policing.
His career culminated in his overall co-ordination of the 2010 UK Papal and a leading role in the police planning for the 2012 Olympics. Meredydd also works internationally as a consultant and lecturer in his specialist policing and security fields, bringing his 32 years of policing to road safety, counter-terrorism and major event command.
He was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the 2006 New Year Honours List and made CBE in 2012. Meredydd remains a keen climber and mountaineer and recently completed his Masters Degree in Leadership Studies at the Charles Sturt University in Australia.
