140mph M25 Biker Banned
A motorcyclist caught travelling at twice the speed limit has been disqualified from driving for six months.
Christopher Nichol of Small Crescent, Buckingham was detected travelling at 140mph on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Epping on June 19, 2016.
His Honda motorbike activated a speed camera in the 70mph zone just before 9am.
The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on November 22, 2016.
He was disqualified from driving for six months, fined £425 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £43 victim surcharge.
Adam Pipe, Casualty Reduction Manager at Essex Police, said: “This is a shocking case of speeding. The M25 is a major route used by thousands of drivers 24 hours a day every day of the week. Travelling at this speed would have made it almost impossible for him to react to any potential hazards, putting not only his life but the lives of innocent road users at risk.
